Hi! My name is Lisa Utley. I am a master’s level clinical mental health counseling student at
Lewis University. I currently work in higher education as an academic advisor.
My work with students is ultimately what led me to pursue a graduate degree in counseling.
Academic advising is often about much more than choosing classes or creating an academic
plan. Many of the students who come into my office are also navigating real life
challenges—anxiety, family responsibilities, career uncertainty, relationships, major transitions,
and sometimes simply trying to figure out what’s next for them.
My approach to counseling is rooted in my interest in positive psychology, particularly its focus
on strengths, resilience, meaning, and the possibility for growth.
I view counseling as a collaborative process. Together, we can explore the patterns, challenges,
strengths, and possibilities in your life and relationships while finding therapeutic approaches
and practical tools that fit who you are.
Ultimately, I hope our work together helps you feel more confident in your ability to navigate
life's challenges and create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to you.
I enjoy working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, career
challenges and exploration, relationship concerns, and those who may simply find themselves
wondering, “Where do I go from here?”
I am also interested in working with couples who want to strengthen their relationships,
communicate more effectively, better understand one another, and develop healthier ways of
navigating conflict.
Perinatal mental health is another area that is especially meaningful to me. I am passionate
about supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition to parenthood,
including those experiencing depression, anxiety, identity changes, relationship changes, or
difficulty adjusting to a season of life that may look very different from what they expected.
